With children, I commonly use family therapy approaches that focus on parenting/co-parenting, behavior modification, and play therapies in order to understand and identify with the child’s internal self and development. While working with older teens, adults, and couples, I utilize solution-focused, motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral approaches. It is my belief that our past experiences can create internal struggles and emotional scars that affect our current perceptions, self-image, and relationships. Therapy can help to address the way we perceive our past experiences so we can move forward with a healthy mind and body.
I received my MSW from SUNY at Stony Brook (NY) in 2002 and obtained my license (C007146) in 2011 and have done extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I have experience working within the school system, substance abuse population, community agencies, and now in private practice.
